The 19th Annual Crime Stoppers of York Region Student Symposium will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2027, at the NewRoads Performing Arts Centre in Newmarket, Ontario.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The symposium starts promptly at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m.

A full, detailed itinerary—including guest-speaker profiles—will be provided soon.

Yes. Complimentary bus transportation is available for registered groups or classes of 20 students or more.

Schools or groups that do not qualify for—or choose not to use—the provided bus transportation are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation.

A detailed bus itinerary, including pickup and return information, will be sent to participating teachers approximately two weeks before the symposium.

Yes. Additional information about the food being provided will be shared with registered teachers before the event.

A dietary restriction questionnaire will be sent to registered teachers in early January. Please complete it by the stated deadline so organizers have time to review the information.

Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate dietary restrictions; however, not all dietary needs can be guaranteed. Some students may need to bring their own food.

Teachers must contact Crime Stoppers to arrange the submission of their students’ entries.

Yes. Students may submit an entry individually or as a group. If a group entry is selected as a winner, the prize money will be divided among the participating students.

Teachers whose students are selected as contest winners will be notified approximately two weeks before the symposium. Winners will be formally recognized live on stage during the event on Wednesday, February 24, 2027.

Yes. Teachers who incorporate the Student Contest into a classroom assignment or curriculum project may request an in-person Crime Stoppers presentation for their class.

Yes. Any teacher who implements the Crime Stoppers Viral Social Media Contest as a class project will be added to the VIP notification list. VIP teachers will be notified about next year’s symposium before information is sent to the mass distribution list.

Yes. Parents or guardians of contest winners may request permission to attend the symposium and watch the live awards presentation. Requests must be submitted in advance.
